Your sinus issues may just be due to Vitamin D deficiency!

Updated from 15th September, 2013. Wow! This is an old post and almost of the time when I was about to get married. Nostalgic… Anyways, I found a new comment on this post and how the reader mentioned this was a helpful piece of information and she faced the same issue of sinus attack due to deficiency of vitamin D. Hope you find it useful as well.

After like a long time, I am doing a health post. All the credit goes to my friend who had suffered from severe sinus issues for the past 10 days and has embarked on a new research to find out the reason and today she just happened to stumble on this piece of information!

So, what she says is something like this. Vitamin D deficiency is perhaps the reason for most of the respiratory issues, PCOD and even infertility. But, today we are going to focus on sinusitis. (Source)

Basically, any respiratory issue gets inherently triggered by Vitamin D deficiency like asthma, sinus, etc. Also, the surgeries prescribed for sinus issues do no good. What happens is that when infection gets triggered, the sinus cavities get filled and blocked and they are not able to drain the mucus.

Also, if you are prescribed antibiotics, please remember that they are not the preferred solution. Why? Because one is never sure what triggered the infection – bacteria, virus or if its a fungal infection. If the mucus is tested, a proper treatment can be given.

Infertility and Emotional Health {Women Stuff}

Swati · November 15, 2012 · 9 Comments

Infertility often creates one of the most distressing life crises that a couple has ever experienced together. The long term inability to conceive a child can evoke significant feelings of loss. I have four friends who are facing this problem and all of them are coping with this problem differently.

The multitude of medical decisions and the uncertainties that infertility brings can create great emotional upheaval for most couples. One of my friends is so depressed because of social and family pressures that she is keeping herself in a cave, metaphorically speaking.
But that’s not a solution to any problem. If she won’t discuss things, probably she won’t realize about the many options available. It is important to keep yourself aware at such a juncture instead of shutting down so that one can find best solution. Who knows there is a light down the tunnel?

Two of my friends are dealing with it very positively. They are not blaming themselves or each other. They take things normally and stay cheerful always. They have actually made their mind that the last thing is always in our hands and that is adoption.
I think that’s perfect because getting pregnant is not the only way to be parents. Really hats off to one of my friend who has gone through five operations and had been to all the best centres but I never saw her crying and her husband is so very supportive.
Everyone has feelings and emotional ups and downs as they pursue infertility treatment. But being negative can always make matters worst. And I have seen women suffer more than men in these situations because of the way we are raised, the beliefs implanted in us.

Okay, let me tell you being a mother can’t be an ultimate ambition in our life. We have so many other things to do. Even women who doesn’t want to be a mother is forced to bear child and is called inhuman or emotionless.
Men are not pressurized that way or probably they are brought up to repress their feelings or keep it to themselves. Because, they must be feeling the same pain but trying to be a strong and chivalrous lest they be taken not that much of man as they are supposed to be.
Well, whatever problems we may have, we should not stop living our life. Don’t keep on postponing your vacation or take your career and relationships for granted. This is something I would totally agree with because I can see some people doing it for some unforeseen future. Its good to be optimistic but that’s of no use if you can’t live your present.

Amazing post, Punam. Its very difficult to put such issues in words if one has never been through it. Oh btw guys, don’t forget to check out Punam’s homemade talcum powder.

Baba Ramdev’s Women Problems Video

Swati · October 17, 2010 · 7 Comments

Below is embedded a video by Baba Ramdev. It is an hour long and so much full of tips that first I thought of recounting them here. But, it is just impossible to. So, I”ll just write a short summary about the video.

This video was specially made for women and their problems. So, it recants all the home remedies, physical exercises and Ayurvedic medicines for every problem a woman can face right from a simple hair loss and pimple to the infertility due to closed fallopian tubes, fibroids in the uterus or irregularities of the menstrual cycle. Baba Ramdev says that every problem in the body can be cured by just simple pranayam techniques and the most important of them are Anuloma-Viloma and Kapalabhati. These exercise if done daily for 15-20 minutes each can cure all our problems:
  • wrinkles, pimples, acne, moles on our face
  • split ends, damaged hair, weak hair, hair loss or promoting hair growth
  • keeping lips and eyes in the best of their conditions
  • improving the health problems caused by irregular periods like back problems or stomach problems or heavy blood flow
  • infertility due to closed fallopian tubes, smaller size of the uterus, fibroids and cysts in the uterus
  • migraine and regular headaches
  • improper functioning of any part of the body
  • weight loss for people with excess fat and weight gain for people who are too thin
The exercises can be done even during the periods. But, pregnant women should not do Kapalbhati. Probably, it will be bad for the baby. He also warns to stay away from the burgeoning market of the cosmetics which are useless and do nothing but rob you out of money and eating a lot of spices in the food. Eating wrong food can cause irreversible damage to your system like eating lots of spices causes both hair loss and weakening of eye sight.

Some simple Grandmother’s Remedies (Dadi Maa Ke Nuskhe) for hair loss and chapped lips.

  • Apply some oil in your belly button to prevent dry and chapped lips.
  • Rub the nails of both your hands against each other. Exclude the thumbs if you do not want to grow a mustache and beard. This can help even bald men regain their lost hair. The simplest and most inexpensive remedy for hair loss and promoting hair growth.
  • Apply Mustard Oil / Sesame Oil / Coconut Oil to your hair for keeping it healthy and black. Mustard Oil is the best for cooking purposes and body massages whereas sesame oil is used in all Ayurvedic preparations.
