Alternative way to applying egg on your hair

Swati · December 1, 2016 · 12 Comments

Updated on 1st December, 2016

This a very old post which I am republishing due to a comment I received. The title of the post seems to be misleading and gives away that the post talks about another type of protein which can be applied on hair. Unfortunately, this post only talks about an alternative way of using egg for hair care. I am extremely sorry for the confusion created.

egg for hair growth, protein for hair,

Today, I would be talking about the goodness of egg for our hair. Well, we have all grown up listening to the fact that egg is extremely rich in proteins and should be made a part of our daily diet. And, we also know that egg is extremely good for our hair too. Egg turns our hair into silk. It makes hair smooth, soft and shiny. Regular application of egg makes hair healthy. But, there is a big downside to applying egg and that is its SMELL. Yes, many people dislike the smell of egg and hence, do not prefer to apply it. There is an alternative to get rid of the smell and get the goodness of egg. An Egg Shampoo.

Method of Application: You can turn your regular shampoo into an egg shampoo by just adding an egg to it.  Take a little shampoo in a separate bowl and add a whole egg. Mix the mixture properly. And, while you apply the shampoo, wait for 10-15 minutes before washing off.

Your bathroom would stink with the smell of egg but not your hair. And, you do not even need to apply a conditioner as egg takes care of your hair better than a conditioner does. And, you can carry out your last rinse with tea or lemon juice. Both give shine to your hair and ensures no smell of egg remains on your hair as your hair dries off.

Yogurt and Egg to grow long hair

egg for hair growth

Egg is one of the best conditioners for our hair. And, massaging hair with egg is one of the best things one can do to grow hair. Egg has lot of protein content which is very useful for the health of our hair.

Start massaging egg into your hair for 45 minutes. And, you would see results in as less as a month. But, 45 minutes might be too much so make it 15!

And, yes, the smell. Try adding essential oil, may be! Rosemary, peppermint, thyme are all great hair growth promoters.

But, many people are averse to the smell of egg and the mess created by using egg. There is an alternative. But, it is no less messy. But, it gives you freedom from the egg odor.

#OneMonthtoHealthyHair – Wrapping up!!

Swati · March 31, 2015 · 17 Comments

hair care tips

Holy moly! We have reached the first quarter end of the new year and with that I am so happy to say that we have successfully concluded the hair care series on the blog.

I hope it was an equally helpful series and you enjoyed it like I did while conducting it. Of course, I would have loved more interaction from all the participants but I do understand your own time constraints and hectic lifestyle. Many times even I face the same issue – I go through and article but I am either too tired to comment and share my opinions or I just want to get it over with and go and sleep 🙂

Anyways, I know I missed out the last four days right from the weekend. Basically, my mom has come unplanned and you know how it is with girls and their moms, especially after wedding! It has been countless time of gossips and discussing this and that stuff and rearranging my household. Well, she brings some order to my extremely chaotic household!

But, I do hope that you did not miss out on your weekend hair care routine which is something you CANNOT shortchange on ANY day!

And, as a wrap up, I had planned to leave you all with some really quirky hair care posts I had done in the past. Some of them are actually very useful, even though they look really weird.

Hair Care Basics

Whether you have long hair or a pro at your hair care, re-doing the basics never really hurt anyone. So, we have everything right from do’s and donot’s for the hair to decoding your hair textures to implements on how to apply hair oil to your scalp.

Washing Up!

What is a more crucial routine than cleansing your skin or hair and we often make mistakes in this one routine than any other! Rinse and repeat is a formula of old. We have to devise our own formulas with respect to our hair depending on its needs. So, tell me do you use a natural-shampoo-cum-conditioner to wash your hair? Or, may be you have added a natural twist to your shampoo?

Do you apply Egg on Hair? {Your Opinion}

Swati · April 17, 2013 · 57 Comments

Hey Everyone! I know I am not being regular with the posts so please bear with me. So, today, I wanted to discuss a very stinky topic. Now, I love watching videos on hair care and reading home remedies for hair care. But, more often than not, you would find egg to be almost one of the best remedies for healthy hair.

Now, I perfectly agree with that because I myself have tried it and I totally love it. But, there is a huge catch with Egg. The Smell. Yeah, you all know how awesome it smells! And, now I am not able to bear it. And, my whole room and bathroom starts stinking so I am not able to use it anymore.
I have been applying curd very regularly in March but sadly it is not helping with the hair dryness. I don’t know what’s wrong with it because curd works fantastically. And, I do use homemade curd not the yogurts available outside. And, still no benefits. And, I have been seriously thinking of switching to egg. It does help hair dryness and provides nourishment.

But, how to avoid the smell? Well, first is Essential Oils. May be they will work unless egg is so powerful that it will overpower the goodness of EO’s 😀 Ok, second, I heard in one of those home remedy videos that lemon juice helps reduce the stink from egg. Well, I do not know how true it is but seems worth a try. But, there is another catch. Lemon makes the hair extremely dry, at least for me. So, I tend to avoid it.
Or, may be, I would try using egg with musk root this time. And, that would be a working day so that I don’t have to bear the egg smell all day long. It would dissipate till the time I am back. Only my maid would be cursing me 😀 Or, it is also said that if you mix egg with henna, it doesn’t stink. So, probably I might go ahead and check out either of the remedies.
What about you? Do you apply egg on your hair? Can you bear the stink or you take some steps to reduce the stink? Would love to hear your remedies 🙂

Home Remedies for Hair Growth {DIY}

Swati · April 11, 2012 · 62 Comments

Yesterday, I talked about some of the tips to start taking care of your hair. And, I had said that I shall share some of the home remedies which have helped my hair tremendously in certain number of years. So, lets start on.

Fenugreek Seeds

Yes, the methi or fenugreek seeds about which I talked almost when I started my blog. That was one remedy which helped my hair fall and I guess it did help in a little in improving the hair texture but since I am so lazy, I had discontinued the remedy. I guess its time to start again!!

Egg
As always, I swear by this remedy. Applying egg on my hair weekly has helped my hair a lot and if not in hair growth, it has definitely helped to keep my hair soft, silky and shiny and strong too. But, the downside of the remedy is the smell which even I can’t bear so I have not used egg on my hair since quite long.
Yogurt
This was advised to me by one of my friends who was advised by an acquaintance. The said acquaintance used to douse her hair in yogurt everyday and wash it off (not shampoo but only plain water rinse) and used to shampoo her hair once a week. This was the routine in vacations but I do admit that she must have smelt bad!!! But, the remedy and the hard work paid off and her tresses were very beautiful and long.
Well, I did use the remedy and not quite in the same way but I used to keep curd / yogurt in my hair for 1-4 hours a stretch and wash it off with a shampoo. Over a period of time, my hair texture did improve a lot. And, here I am guessing, that it did improve my hair volume too. But, I am not quite sure on that count.

Onion Juice

This is something I swear by again and it is one of the top rated of my posts in all time. I know!!! And, yes, onion juice helps a lot in hair growth itself. But, yes, it gives a very foul smell which is why I get discouraged to use the remedy but the results are too obvious.
The reason why onion works is because of its richness in sulphur, one of the main minerals required for hair growth.  don’t know if it will cover a bald spot but yes, it will definitely revive the hair follicles if they have been dormant too long. A very difficult remedy to use, though 🙁
Tomato
Again, one of my few first posts on the blog, it had helped to restore my sunburnt and extremely damaged hair to a decent condition. Tomato gives a lot of shine to the hair and also helps with dandruff as it is a little acidic but not as acidic as lemon to leave the hair entirely dry!!!
These are the remedies which have helped my hair a lot overtime.

PS: Read a status message on FB:

What say?? 😀

A nourishing and moisturizing mask

Swati · February 27, 2010 · 2 Comments

Well, after playing Holi, you should apply an extremely nourishing mask to avoid the drying of your skin with colors. So, what mask should you apply for that. Definitely, a honey mask would be a good option. But, we can surely improvise on it.
Ingredients:
1 half of a very ripe Banana (mashed)
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon cold / chilled yogurt
5 tablespoon milk cream
1 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 teaspoon almond oil
1 teaspoon coconut oil
Method: Blend the egg yolk first into a smooth and frothy paste. Add banana and yogurt to blend again. Then, add honey and milk cream and blend for 5 minutes more. Finally, add the oils and runt he blender for a minute. Your nourishing face mask is ready. This mask also acts as a skin firming and anti-aging mask.
Apply it on your face in a thick layer and settle down. You can put cucumber slices or chilled tea bags on your eyes. Wait for 30 minutes. Remove the mask and wash your face with cold water. Your face would very soft. You can moisturize if you feel the need or apply 1 drop of olive or coconut oil. Preferably, apply this mask at the night and do not put any moisturizer on your face afterward. Your face will be soft in the morning.
For Oily Skin: You can exclude the oils, substitute the milk cream with milk and lemon or tomato juice and the egg yolk with egg white.
