Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers. The earlier it gets detected, better are the chances of survival and you should make sure it is included in your health insurance.

What should you know about Breast Cancer?

Causes of Breast Cancer

As with other cancers, the exact cause is not known. However, there are a few risk factors which might increase your chances of succumbing to this condition.

  1. Older women are more prone to development of breast cancer.
  2. Breast cancer and ovarian cancer may be inherited if you carry the particular genes, BRCA1, BRCA2 and TP53.
  3. Dense breast tissue may be associated with the risk of development of breast cancer. However, this is not confirmed yet. Breast density is always higher when young and it reduces as the female ages but breast cancer is more common in older women so the likelihood of this happening is less. However, dense tissue can hide the lumps or tumor from being detected in the mammogram.
  4. Being over-weight after menopause increases estrogen levels in the body which may cause breast cancer.
  5. Hormonal treatments or use of birth control pills can also lead to development of cancer.

Turning 30 is a milestone. You are almost half-way through your life and possibly settled with a decent and stable job, already own a home and have a family. All the rush and indecisiveness of the 20s are way behind you and it is time to face the adult life. The first thing to take stock of is your body. Your body is changing and slowing down. Time to listen to it and respect it. So, here are a few tips to make your life and health post 30 easy.

How to take care of Health post 30?

Keep an eye on your Bone Health and Muscle Mass

Though it is projected for women more, the bone density of men also suffers once they hit 30. So, man or woman, it is time to increase your calcium intake and exposure to sunlight. Keep an eye on those vitamin D levels to keep stress and fatigue away, and to ensure proper absorption of calcium.

Just like your bones get old and frail, so do your muscles lose their mass by almost 5% every decade. Health post 30 is not exactly a cake walk so make sure to would include physical activities and variance in your workout routine every 4-6 weeks, so that your muscles do not get used to the same movements and go through a little variation now and then.

How to take care of your Hair this Winter?

December 1, 2017 Swati 3 Comments

hair care, winter hair care

Winters are finally here! I have always loved winters even though it is not exactly great for our skin or hair. Many suffer from itchy scalp, Dandruff and dry hair during this season. To add to these woes, hair growth reduces to quite an extent during the colder months. So, let your mane grow as unevenly as it is for a great hair cut in the spring.

Still want a Hair Cut?

If your hair length is bothering you or just want to change your style, get a haircut right now. It is, after all, the season of weddings and parties and you have to look your best.

Hair Wash or Condition?

Regular washes are bad enough and with the weather and temperatures going low day by day, it gets even more exhausting to keep up with the hair wash.

So, unless your hair is really greasy or limp, you could just Use your conditioner to wash it on alternate days. No, conditioner is not applied on the scalp, only ears down. The lukewarm water is enough to wash away the dirt on the scalp.

This keeps Hair dryness at bay, keeps the frizz at a minimum and prolongs the length of hair color or highlights as advised by my stylist.

Edelweiss CritiCare+ Critical Illness insurance policy

Lifestyle, today, is not as simple as it once was! The 9 to 5 jobs are long gone and inflation rates have risen quite high. The 3 basic needs for living – house, food and clothing – now also include a laptop, a mobile and a car, if not anything else! As a consequence, you are working harder and longer to make that lifestyle possible. Hence, more stress and poor health.

Irregular working hours, the easily available junk food, the hectic life spent more in traffic than having a peaceful chat with your better half, all impact your health adversely and make you more susceptible to any sort of a illness, leave alone the critical ones. So, to protect you and your family against such a critical illness, Edelweiss has launched a special insurance package called CritiCare+.

CritiCare+ is not a life insurance but comes in handy if you or any of your family member diagnosed with critical health issues. Also, this insurance is useful because the general medical health insurance do not provide protection against such health conditions.

So, what is Critical Illness according to Edelweiss?
