Nutmeg for Dry and Oily Skin {Reader’s Tip}

Swati · September 27, 2014 · 1 Comment

This is one of the tips I found in the comments while browsing through them.

Hey friends..! Try this.. really works.. Oily skin : Nutmeg paste prepared with water (apply it on face, leave it for 20mins and wash it off). Dry skin : Nutmeg paste prepared with raw milk (apply it on face, leave it for 20mins and wash it off). You can use honey instead of water too. Hope this will help you all 🙂 on Difference between Pimples and Acne {Reader’s Query}

Remove pesticides from Oranges {Reader’s Tip}

Swati · May 19, 2013 · 4 Comments

Hey Everyone. Firdaus left a very useful tip to remove pesticides from oranges. Check it out.

I’d love to share something very important with u and with all the visitors on your blog. You r right when u said we dont have organic oranges available in India. But there is a way to remove the pesticides from oranges or any fruit or vegetable we eat. Take oranges in a big bowl or bucket, pour white vinegar, add some baking powder to it and table salt. mix it in water and leave for 10-15 mins. Before throwing water, rub the oranges nicely with your hand. Now rinse with fresh water 2-3 times and your oranges are free of pesticides. To make your “anti-pesticide liquid” more powerful, u can add some lemon juice. This is the best home made method based on my research to remove pesticide. Stay healthy and beautiful 🙂

You are right, Firdaus. Baking powder and vinegar do help to remove a bit of pesticides. Fruits having an outer covering are free from sprinkled pesticides. But, this method can be tried on grapes.

But, I have to add here that this method would work only if the pesticides are on the outer covering of the fruits. If they are absorbed by the fruits in the process of plant growth, it is impossible to remove those absorbed pesticides.

What do you think, guys?

“My favo tip is about hair. I have naturally straight hair which makes it look flat sometimes. I don’t get that instant bounce so whenever im done washing my hair, I air-dry my hair, apply little hair serum. When my hair is almost dry, I untangle it first and then flip my hair and comb it with a blow dry brush from my roots to the tips. I get an amazing bounce that I get asked if i got a haircut or blow- dried my hair. Trust me it works!!”

Facials from the fridge {Reader’s Tips}

It always seems difficult to find time to make all these recipes to maintain yourself regularly. I found a shortcut to maintain my face – I usually create a base by grinding 1/2 cup oats and 1/2 cup milk powder and store it. Then depending on what I have in the fridge – I mix it in this powder base.

To tighten – mix egg whites and honey into 1 tsp powder base and apply on face, wash off after dry.

To moisturize – add avocado and almond oil into 1tsp powder base and apply – wash off after dry.

To absorb oil – mix egg whites and lemon juice into 1tsp powder base – apply, wash off after dry.

To tone and cleanse – mix yogurt and cucumber juice ( when you grate and press, juice can be extracted, no need to grind) in 1 tsp powder base and apply , rinse after dry.

If the paste is too tight I mix rose water or water to it. And the list goes on – anything you find like fresh fruits – I usually go to the ones that need no grinding or preparation. This really works – try it! As we don’t find a lot of time as working moms with kids…anything easy works!!

Its an awesome tip, Padmaja. Thanks so much 🙂

Aloevera Scrub {Reader’s Tip}

Swati · June 10, 2012 · 15 Comments

Aloe vera Moisturizer
Aloevera is a great moisturizer which moisturizes your skin instantly. I often use aloe gel to moisturize my skin in winter. Dry skin is the sign of dullness, so moisturize your skin and keep it soft always :). Take a leaf and remove the green skin to get soft and fresh aloevera gel 🙂

Editor’s Comments: I love aloevera moisturizer. Do check my review on the Aloevera gel.
