Loving It / Using It Vol. 11 – Omved Purifying Shampoo Brahmi & Peppermint for all hair types

Swati · November 11, 2014 · 4 Comments

Omved Purifying Shampoo Brahmi & Peppermint for all hair types product review for hair care

Sometime in between flipkart had discontinued selling my favourite Organic Surge shampoo and I was looking around to see if I could get used to something else!! And, then, Omved people sent out their product to check out.

I was excited to try it out because of the fact that they are a completely organic brand and I have loved their body oil which I had reviewed earlier. And, I have overshot the reviewing time (again!) but I have used the product so thoroughly and almost to the last drop!! Now, I am not really sure if I love the product because I have had variable results with it, honestly!

Loving It / Using It : Using It

Omved Purifying Shampoo Brahmi & Peppermint for all hair types product review for hair care
    Shampoo – Ingredient List

    • Price – Really expensive!! A bottle would last 2-3 months depending on your hair length.

    • Availability – Online shop
    • Smells bad. Actually, I do not like it at all. It is supposed to smell of rosemary and  but it smells really weird.
    • Packaging – I like that the shampoo comes in a aluminium sort of bottle with a pump but unfortunately for me, the pump really didn’t work so I had to unscrew the top and use it. It was inconvenient. The conditioner comes in a glass bottle with a pump which worked perfectly and does not give up a large amount of product. I like to think it is travel-friendly but I have not really travelled with it.
    • Has to be followed with a conditioner.

    Conditioner – Ingredient List

      Usage

Only one dollop of shampoo is really necessary for a shoulder length hair. And, I have noticed that it works best to dilute the product with water. It lathers a lot for a SLS free product and it works really well to remove the oil in the hair.

But, if you do not dilute it with water, the shampoo dries out  the hair and makes it straw-like and frizzy and over time, the hair quality deteriorates. And, it is extremely important to follow up with the conditioner otherwise the hair is generally dry!

I use almost 10 pumps of the conditioner but so much of quantity is not really necessary. But, it softens the hair pretty much because the shampoo leaves it a lot dry and gives a bit of shine to the hair. And, one bottle will last about 20 washes for a mid-waist length hair. Even after using the conditioner, one has to use leave-in.

      My Verdict

It does make the dry hair more drier so I would not say it is suited for all hair types. Oily hairs would find it better than the dry haired gals. And, don’t forget your hair conditioner and the leave-in.

      Omved Sushwasa Body & Bath Oil {Product Review}

Omved Sushwasa Body & Bath Oil Product Review

      Price: Rs 490 for 80ml

      Ingredients

Omved Sushwasa Body & Bath Oil Product Review

      Pros
      smells good
gives a fresh and cool sensation
      doesn’t feel very sticky

      Cons
      very expensive!
wish the stopper came with a hole!

      My Experience
I got this product from natural mantra as part of their promotional campaign. But, the bottle wasn’t too big that the product could last long enough so I shall write about the product based on 5 or 6 uses I could get.
Its a colorless oil which smells of camphor and ginger and feels awesome to apply. It doesn’t really disappear into the skin like the Anirveda oil. But, I did like the ginger combination in the oil.
Regarding the moisturizing capability, I would say its good but not great so it would suit the normal or oily skin perfectly. Dry skin people might need another layer. But, it does make the skin really soft.
Also, due to the camphor, the oil feels a little cool sometimes. This is a feature which would be great in summers so you might want to try it then. But, the presence of ginger and black pepper doesn’t make the oil feel warm.
The only issue I have is that the bottle comes with the stopper but no hole so its an added work to pierce a hole. I wish it came with a standard hole in the stopper so the bottle is usable without any work. And, yes, it is expensive!

Omved Anirveda Body / Bath Oil at Perfect Skin Care for you

      Price: Rs 590 for 80ml

      Availability
      Online – Naturalmantra
      Ingredients
Almond, Olive, Jojoba, Orange, Lemon, Lavender and Mogra (Jasmine) oils
      Pros
      it gets absorbed super quick!!
keeps skin moisturized for decent time
will suit all skin types, even oily
      Cons
      damn the expense!!
might not be enough for extremely dry skin!
      hate the packaging!
      My Experience
Ok, I got the 30ml bottle from the website as part of their promotional campaign. Well, as you all already know that I do splurge heavily on the website so what else should I say?
Ok, I won’t say its the perfect website to shop from coz there have been hitches but Nishant and Tina (the owner couple) are very helpful and generally handle the grievances soon enough and very efficiently.
And, coming back to the product, it gets absorbed into the skin like a dream!! Seriously, it beats Forest Essentials as well in that depo if you don’t count the fragrance.
This smells more herbal and Earthy which is also not repulsive but I donno why it smells like that considering the essential oils in the product. But, the problem is that it might not be enough for extremely dry skin in winters.
It comes in a aluminium or tin bottle (donno which) and has a round opening with a stopper. I wish it came in a classier looking packaging looking at the price! Donno if the packaging differs for the 80ml pack.
But, one thing which I really want to mention is the price!! Its damn expensive. Also, I wanted to remind you guys that last few days are left to avail the special 10% reader discount at the website so don’t forget to use it 🙂

PS: Product sent by website for self-promotion.

      Omved All Skin Types Ubtan {Product Review}

      Swati · April 8, 2012 · 20 Comments

Price: Rs 120 for 50 gms

      Ingredients
moong dal (24%), urad dal (24%), red sandalwood (24%), white sandalwood (24%), turmeric (4%)
      Pros
      – cleanses the face really well
      – acts as an exfoliant and a cleanser both at the same time
      – can be mixed with water, rose water, fruit juices, milk or anything we want to treat our skin to
      Cons
      – I really wish it came in a jar packaging. Make the storage easier otherwise you have to search it for yourself.
      My Experience
This is brick red in color and smells heavily of red sandalwood. Frankly, I am not a fan of sandalwood fragrance which is a huge con for me. But, its not that huge an obstacle. I have loved using ubtans since long and they are one of the most ancient remedies we all swear by. Its availability in the market just makes it easier for us to get them and not undergo the huge process of making one at home which does involve some work. But, we can always add some of our own ingredients to this product and store it.
So, how do I use it? I simply wet my face and fingers and take some of the powder on the fingers and apply it lightly on the face and rub it. When needed, scoop more of the powder and use it. Its better for me as I am lazy to mix it in another container but you can always take a table spoon or half and mix it with some liquid to make a paste and apply on the face as a mask. Keep it for two-three minutes and gently scrub it off and wash.
It cleanses really well as all the ubtans do and the green gram dal is amazing at that. It is supposed to be helpful for tanning as well but since I have used the product on and off and not very regularly, I did not see any of those effects. The skin does glow and look supple and hydrated afterward which is something I really like. So, overall, the product does look interesting. It does last long enough but I guess it is a bit expensive for the quantity.
      PS: Product sent by brand.
PS1: I have used the photos with prior permission from Tapaswini’s blog “Beauty through my eyes”. And, do check out her review of the same product 🙂

      Swati · March 26, 2012 · 2 Comments

Price: Rs 440 for 40 gms

      Ingredients

DM water, extract of harida, baheda, glycerin, aloe vera juice, carbopol ultrez 21, phenoxyethanol, sodium benzoate, green tea extract, oils of lavender, chamomile, vertiver, sodium hydroxide.

      Pros
      – gets absorbed into the skin very quickly
      – moisturises instantly
      – moisturising stays for long time
      – doesn’t really get washed off with water
      – keeps the nails and cuticles moisturised too
      – awesome ingredients
      Cons
      – very expensive
      – doesn’t help extremely dry skin
      My Experience
Let me start by saying it smells really weird. But, once you get used to it, you will actually like it and sniff your hands for it. I used this small sample only to moisturise my hands. When I had received this in February, my hands were extra dry and I was hoping to improve their state with this.

The sample is not as big that I can actually review it but I can give a decent verdict on the product because of its concentrated use on one part. It is a thick cream which I used to apply after washing my hands and it moisturised my hands pretty well and instantly. It spreads easily and gets absorbed quickly without leaving any greasiness behind.

But, I also noticed that it didn’t really help my extremely dry skin which was a con but gradually, my hands came back to the normal state so I am hoping that a continuous use of the product does show effects. This is an all-purpose cream which can be used on any part of the body. And, I definitely like the smell now 🙂
