Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser Product Review

I know you are getting bombarded with a load of product reviews since last week.Please bear with me since my shelf is fulllllll of soooo many of them and most of them I have totally loved!! So, today, I have this extremely expensive cleanser which gets finished in just half a month, especially if you use it like I do. But, I found it amazing for my skin. Why? Read further and you will have the answers. In the meantime, do recommend any of your favourite cleansers as well!!

I did mention that I have started using sunscreen again and as much as I love using oil to remove my sunscreen, I do like to use cleansers sometimes. The latest in cleansers is the balms which seem quite interesting and I am quite interested in trying out the one from Clinique. May be in a few months! While searching for suitable cleansers, I came across this one from Neutrogena. I have managed to empty the bottle in just 15 days which is why I said it is expensive. So, let me elaborate on why I like the product.

Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser Product Review

Price : Rs 499 for 200ml

Availability : easily in all cosmetic outlets

Suitable for : Dry and Normal Skin

Packaging : It comes with a pump packaging. Since the bottle is large size, it is not travel-friendly but you can always decant it into travel-sized bottles.

Texture : The cleanser is creamy and spreads easily on wet skin.

My Skin Care Routine {Skin Care}

Swati · November 2, 2012 · 30 Comments

Being a beauty blogger, many of you would be thinking that I have a very elaborate routine and am very diligent about it. Nothing could be farther than truth. I am the most lazy person you will ever come across and I can ignore my skin or hair for a long time.

The maximum I have ignored my hair is a week, after that I have to at least wash it. I do many times skip conditioning or oiling as well. And, skin, I can ignore for months together except for basic cleansing and moisturizing. Right now, I am passing through that kind of lazy phase.
Cleansing
Obviously, can’t ignore it. Ok, there have been days I have done that. But, these days, I do follow that coz I am having my bath twice a day. Having a geyser at my disposal is actually harming my skin more. Why? I used to stay in a hostel earlier which had just one common geyser for the entire floor.
I used to use a heating rod to heat the water [was too lazy to carry buckets of water from the bathroom to my room!] But, now, the geyser is right there in my bathroom. I like hot baths and, now, I am trying to control the temperature of the water I use so that it doesn’t dry my skin too much.

Moisturizing
I am using the Lotus White Glow Emulsion for day time and for night, I generally use Rustic Art Aloevera Gel and follow with a drop or two of any facial oil. Sometimes, I prepare my own. Yup, I know I haven’t done any DIY in a long while but I lack inspiration and patience both!!!

Sunscreen
If I actually see the pattern of last month, there have been many many days when I have blatantly skipped the sun protection. Ok, let me confess, I don’t really like applying it and it takes too much of time and effort and it increases my getting-ready time exponentially.

But, let me also add that when I skipped the sunscreen, my skin has perceptibly darkened and since I have started it again, I have seen my skin come back to its original color gradually. So, yup, its an unavoidable nuisance. I use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer.

Lips
I have been using Nivea Pomegranate for lips in the morning and at night, I have been using Aloe Veda lip balm. But, my lips are really getting dry coz I miss out using lip balms generally and in the office, its really difficult for me to remember. AC is also taking a toll.

Body Care
I do tend to skip the morning miniaturization coz of the scarcity of time. Currently, I am using the Nivea Express Hydration lotion. And, at night also, many times, I skip but do not do that!!! Otherwise, I am using The Body Shop Polynesian Monoi Oil. And, if need be, follow with the nivea lotion again.

That’s it!! Yup, there are a lot of things missing. Exfoliation or Dry Brush which I totally love. I haven’t exfoliated my face since like ages and dry brush, trust me, I am missing it desperately but I misplaced it while shifting and I am afraid I lost it!!!

Anyways, so you have seen my routine, you would want to ask how is my skin feeling? Its become dry since August and I can’t really do without moisturizing. I have to be a regular at it. Otherwise, my skin is soft and good enough. So, what’s your skin care routine?

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Complete UV Moisture SPF 50+ PA+++ {Product Review}

Swati · August 18, 2012 · 6 Comments

Price: Rs 349 for 30ml

Pros
doesn’t leave the skin dry if you skip moisturizer
no tint so you can apply enough sunscreen for full protection
Cons
expensive
not for oily skin
gets greasy sometimes (may be depends on skin type)
My Experience

I have been using this suncreen since the time it was launched in June. It comes in a 30ml pack and is way more expensive than its counterpart but I have not really found much of a difference. Anyway, the packaging is a white bottle with a very thin nozzle which dispenses a little product.

The product is white and creamy in consistency but very thin. But, the weird thing is that even a little product does get greasy on the face so applying enough of sunscreen really becomes difficult. Also, a little excess of product and you are left with a white cast as well. I, almost always, had to blot out the excess of product after applying the product (after leaving it on for 15-20 minutes to get absorbed).
Regarding the efficacy of the sunscreen, I am really not sure if it gives the same protection as the dry touch. Because, I did find my skin tanned and dark in between and since some days, I have been again using the dry touch which has considerably prevented my face from tanning. And, the skin is looking a little brighter as well.
So, I am back to the previous sunscreen for now!! But, I do think that this sunscreen will suit the dry skin beauties really well. The dry touch is matte and this one is moisturizing. I do skip moisturizer whenever I use this and it never made my skin feel dry. The only issue is that this sunscreen finishes off in a month πŸ™ Well, remember that you have to apply sunscreen adequately for proper protection??
Btw, have you used this product? How was your experience?

My Haul and Other Things

Swati · April 26, 2012 · 38 Comments

So, I am back to Hyderabad and wallowing in sadness πŸ˜€ And, as you all would be probably aware that my camera had not been functioning properly so I got my other camera this time from home. And, now that I can again take many snaps, I wanted to share some of the hauls in the past months and some other things. Do check out till the end πŸ™‚
Kara Wipes and Neutrogena new sunscreen from New U and got a nail buffer free πŸ™‚
Neev soaps from naturalmantra, Parachute body lotion dry skin and body shop haul πŸ™‚
A word about the above products – Neutrogena new sunscreen is pretty light and oil free but extremely expensive (400 for 30 ml), Kara wipes good as always, Parachute body lotion is good but not for summers obviously ;), ginger body butter is not at all worth the cost (I am regretting it) and I love, love and love the Polynesian Monoi oil.
Essential Oils – rosemary, lavender, neroli, frankincense, bergamot, patchouli, cedarwood, ginger, cinnamon bark
 and, cocoa butter from moksha lifestyle
Loving the essential oils but undecided on the cocoa butter. And, now, a very very very special thanks to Taps for this sweet gift πŸ™‚ Well, remember the huge Glossy Box debacle??? Yes, Taps of Beauty Through my Eyes (she has her first giveaway on so don’t forget to participate) sent me this wonderful gift as a substitute for the giveaway win even though I told her not to many times. Thank you sooooooooo much, Taps πŸ™‚

I have been hearing such good things about the chocolate mask that I was very much tempted to get this but I restrained myself as I have so many products to finish. Now, I’m gonna use it ASAP, yippeeee πŸ™‚ And, that’s another Neev soap to the collection. And, the third is the fresh line Blue Chamomile mask which was also one of the products I wanted to try. So, this weekend is gonna be a pamper session for me πŸ˜€

How to remove tanning on arms? {Skin Care}

Swati · April 1, 2012 · 9 Comments

Tanning on my arms has been a long standing issue. And, last week, when someone requested me remedies for the same, I thought I would better do a post. Disclaimer: I wouldn’t say that I am entirely rid of the tan but I have surely made some progress in the recent years and now, my hands looks a little better than what they did 5-6 years back.Β
All of my issues started with the college whether hair or skin. In the school, everything was covered upto the neck and the arms were entirely shrouded in full sleeves and even my socks used to reach the knees and my skirt used to end just above so my knees were definitely one of the most hit parts of my body. But, since, I have been covering my legs ever since, my knees and the surrounding areas have lost all the tan and returned to their normal shade again.
But, now, the issue remains with my arms and neck. My face is still doing a lot better. So, how to save the arms?
  • Elbow-length Gloves: Yes, those which are used for driving. I had started to wear them pretty regularly a year or two back and had noticed my arms coloring had improved quite a lot. But, I shall also accept that they are uncomfortable and cumbersome but then, we do wear scarves all over the face, right???
  • Sunscreen: Oh yes, absolute must. Arms get tanned very easily and we generally tend to miss them out while applying the sunscreen. But, applying sunscreen on the arms do make a huge deal of difference. I have tried Biotique ones and have received great results and they are economical too. And, right now, I am using Neutrogena Ultra sheer which is equally good but definitely not so economical for me.
So, those were my two pennies on how I protect my arms and seriously, I have never done anything more for my arms or any other part of my body except face and probably neck (which shall be another post!!).

Neutrogena Clean Conditioner {Product Review}

Swati · November 30, 2011 · 2 Comments

This was left out while I was reviewing the Neutrogena products I got from the hotel. I had loved the Deep Clean shampoo so I was pretty excited about the conditioner too. But I am not sure if it is available everywhere though I have seen some of its hair care ranges in some shops.

Ingredients
My Experience
I would say this is an amazing conditioner. It looks thick but is extremely light-weight on the hair and doesn’t weigh it down. It keeps the hair soft and hydrated and adds subtle shine too. And, the hair doesn’t get weighed down even after two-three days (this happens with some conditioners). It doesn’t also leave any residue on the hair. And, is a perfect shampoo-conditioner pack when combined with the Deep Clean Shampoo.
My Recommendation
Yes, definitely!!!
