My Skin Diary December 2016

Swati · January 16, 2017 · 11 Comments

skin diary, skin care products, beauty products, daily skin care routine

When I started on this post, I realized that it has been a year exactly since I have done any of the hair or skin diary posts. That officially proves that I have done nothing for my skin or hair in 2016. So, I guess it is a good start to this year with a skin diary post. I have been more or less pretty diligent for the last two months in my skin care and there are a lot of insights to share. So, let me begin.

Sunscreen helps with Blemishes

If you have been a regular reader on the blog for the past few months, you would know that my skin faced a major bad phase last quarter. After that I have been pretty diligent with sunscreen and I have noticed that there is a remarkable reduction in tanning and blemishes on my skin. So, you want to get rid of blemishes or dark spots, sunscreen is the way to go! And, give it time. It might take a month or more to show results depending on your skin type and damage levels.

Also, another tip – combine your sunscreen with a vitamin C serum and your skin is on your way to health.

Importance of Cleansing

My Skin Diary – November 2015

Hey All!! How have you been? How was Diwali? I know a whole lot of time has gone since we last talked. So, how are you doing? There has been just so much I have to share with you all. So, last two years have been pretty bad for the blog so I apologize for that and I hope it really does not continue. But, then, I do realize I am past all hope and you have for sure given up on me.

Highlights of the Post

  • October Skin Diary
  • November Skin Diary
  • December Skin Diary
  • Why Cleansing is Important?
  • A Trick to Moisturise well in Winters
  • Why You should alternate Skin Care products?
  • How to get rid of Neck Lines?
  • Why Skin looks dark in Winters?

Anyways, my October and November were pretty cool in the skin care department. I have made a huge haul again. Okay, not as huge as Malaysia one but huge still!! I can literally term myself a spendthrift now for the amount of money I have spent this year. And, that reminds me that we are only a month away from 2016. Whoohooo!!

I shall be 30 this year. Bohooo! I do not really know how to feel but it does overwhelm me. I feel that I am getting older but then the next moment I love the liberation which this age brings. Now, I understand why every actress above 30 says this is the best age to be. Teens are confusing, 20’s are insecure, 25+ one is just trying to adjust with growing up. 30’s is when the real life really begins. And, you actually have the guts to laugh on your older self, condemn your actions, realize your mistakes and actually use some brains to avoid more!! Hehe…okay, enough already πŸ™‚

Talking about my skin, I had started sharing my skin care routine again in September. And, then, October was a crazy month. The whole thing went off in anticipation of the wedding of the year in the family and life and mails did bring in a few surprises. Oh yes, I also got a chance to interview one of the leading dermatologists in the country but that was in November. And, I have sooooo many tips to share with you all. So, let me start with October.

Used Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum and the eye cream in October and it was just awesome. Pretty decent serum for all kinds of skin types.

How was October for my skin?

The last two months my skin has been acting up weirdly! In the month of October, it broke out pretty much on the chin area and that had been really difficult to control. I thought it was because I was applying Sheisido sunscreen which probably got a little extra for my skin but now I am not so sure.

My Skin Diary – September 2015

skin diary - Estee Lauder lip balm, vaadi herbals face mask, Marie Veronique face oil, Marie Veronique everyday coverage sunscreen, Sheisido suscreen

If you remember, I had shared with you a huge haul right after my vacation. Once I got all the amazing products and my sunscreen back into my shelf, I decided it was time enough for me to start taking care of my skin again. Honestly, since I was so excited to get so many products, I literally used everything on the shelf once a day so you would literally find a barrage of products in the ‘products used’ section. And, I would strongly urge you not to follow my example.

My Skin Type

I have combination dry skin which keeps on changing its texture depending on the climate. Also, it is more dry these days as a result of age and negligence. But, then, I have been using alcohol based toner and still my face does not feel stretchy or anything. It is really difficult to make out what my skin type is. It behaves so differently all times. I do also need to use anti-aging skin care products for my skin I guess since I am entering my 30’s now.

My Skin Condition

My skin is, thankfully, quite co-operative and does not breakout at its convenience and my inconvenience. I have always taken very good care of my skin but since my wedding two years back, I have been a little careless with my grooming routine. I have not used sunscreen since two years and I can see the effects. My skin is dark and dull and patchy all over. Also, I have been gaining and losing weight, the effects of which are quite obvious on my skin. And, entering into 30’s is also definitely taking its toll. So, overall, I need to take good care of my skin.

My Skin Diary – September 2013

Swati · October 2, 2013 · 2 Comments

Ok, so, I can see my entire life changing in front of me now. And, now is the main time to take care of my skin πŸ˜€ So, what all did I do in September? I was pretty serious about using sunscreen this month. And, now I have run out of my favorite one so I need to replenish it in my shelf.

Guess what, MVO has started charging shipping for India. It has become so damn expensive so I have to wait till my friend comes from US and I have asked her to get me a few bottles. Till that time, I have to survive on lesser spf. Well, hopefully, I should not get too tanned.
Face
Day Routine
  • Face wash – Olay Total Face Cleanup
  • Moisturizer – Rustic Art aloevera gel
  • Base before Sunscreen – Garnier Eye Roll On + Maybelline Insta Age Eraser
  • Sunscreen – MVO Face Moisturizing Screen + MVO Everyday Sheer Coverage
  • Kajal – Maybelline Colossal
  • Lip Balm – Maybelline Berry Crush
Night Routine
  • Cleansing Milk – Mustard Oil + Coconut Oil
  • Face wash – Olay Total Face Cleanup
  • Toner – Liz Earle + Kama Ayurveda Vetiver Water
  • Moisturizer – Rustic Art aloevera gel
  • Facial Oil – Turmeric infused Almond Oil + Primrose Oil
Body
Day Routine
  • Moisturizer – Vaadi Herbals Body Oil
  • Sunscreen (arms) – Neutrogena
Night Routine
  • Moisturizer – Vaadi Herbals Body Oil + Vaseline Aloe Fresh + Kama Ayurveda Rose Jasmine Bath & Body Oil
So, I did not really do anything much to my skin. Yes, one experiment I did was removing makeup everyday using Oil Cleansing Method. It worked out really well for a few days in the starting but then I thought my skin was not really accepting such a heavy treatment everyday so I left it at that!! So, I would suggest OCM only once a week at max. Do not do it everyday. Ciao with another post tomorrow. Its a bridal update post πŸ˜€

The Green Beauty Skin Care Tag [Part – I] {Skin Care}

Swati · September 8, 2013 · 2 Comments

Thanks Vivi for tagging me πŸ™‚ And, I am excited to do this post! I have never really done any such posts so let’s see how I fare πŸ™‚

Describe your routine in 5 words.
Simple, Lazy, Natural, Lazy, Sleep
I keep my routine simple and natural and extra stress on lazy because I am really lazy and sleep because it cures everything!
What’s your skin type?
Combination with oil tendency in summers and dry in all other seasons. I am 27 now and I do not use any anti-aging product yet. In dilemma if I really need it.

What’s your favorite skin product?

I love oils. More exotic it is, more my tendency to use it. Till date, I have loved all oils I have used but best among them is apricot oil. And, I do love Rustic Art Aloevera gel in commercial products.
Top Blemish Zapper?
I never really had problem with blemishes coz my skin does heal itself in the course of time but I do believe honey helps a bit! And, proper routine of cleansing, toning and moisturizing helps for sure!!
Face Wipes – Yay or Nay?
I am against face wipes in a daily routine basis but they are life saviors when it comes to travelling or during emergencies. But, please do not use them to wipe off sweat. The film it leaves behind can clog the pores!
Toner – Yay or Nay?
After a long stint with toners, I would say yes. If applied before immediate moisturization, it helps keep the skin hydrated and supple for a longer time.
High-end skincare or makeup?
You know the answer already. Skincare!!
What’s the most unusual skincare product I have tried?
I do not think I have tried anything weird on my face yet. I can say that first time I used face mask on my face was pretty weird for me!!
Since I am typing this on my mobile, my hands are tired so I shall finish this post in another part. Oh btw, I would love to hear your answers to each of the questions above so do not forget to answer them πŸ™‚

My Skin Diary – August 2013

Swati · September 1, 2013 · 8 Comments

Gosh…its unbelievable how this year is just flying by! I hate it and love it at the same time. Anyways, my skin was not behaving very well this month. I don’t know why but I did get an issue of lot of small bumps on the skin and by small, I mean very very small. You can just see that the skin is not looking smooth.

You will ask me if I did anything for it. Well, honestly, I did nothing specifically. My best guess is that it was because I did not use sunscreen. But then, this month I have cut some serious slack with sunscreen and those boils did not come later on when I stopped using sunscreen again.

So, may be the answer just boils down to maintenance. I have not been looking after my skin very seriously. I do tend to take it a bit for granted because my skin is, touchwood, really good. Thanks to my genes and no credits to me. But, I would reiterate the fact that howsoever good your skin might be, do not ever forget taking care of it.

Face

Day Routine
  • Face wash – Nivea Visage Refreshing Face Wash + Olay Total Face Cleanup
  • Moisturizer – Rustic Art aloevera gel
  • Base before Sunscreen – Garnier Eye Roll On
  • Sunscreen – MVO Face Moisturizing Screen + MVO Everyday Sheer Coverage
  • Foundation / Makeup – Ponds BB Cream
  • Kajal – Maybelline Colossal
  • Lip Balm – Maybelline Berry Crush
Night Routine
  • Cleansing Milk – Garnier + Mustard Oil
  • Face wash – Nivea Visage Refreshing Face Wash + Olay Total Face Cleanup
  • Toner – Liz Earle + Kama Ayurveda Vetiver Water
  • Moisturizer – Rustic Art aloevera gel
  • Facial Oil – Turmeric infused Almond Oil + Primrose Oil

So, I have to say here that the turmeric infused oil is working really well on reducing the breakout size for me. A few days back I had a bad case on my neck. I think I accidentally scratched my skin in sleep and it was an angry breakout whose size had reduced to half and 1/3rd the night and night after respectively on using the oil. So, yes, I would definitely encourage you to try it out.

Body
Day Routine
  • Moisturizer – Vaadi Herbals Body Oil
  • Sunscreen (arms) – Neutrogena

Night Routine

  • Moisturizer – Vaadi Herbals Body Oil
Current Skin
My skin picking habit has left my neck tortured as I had mentioned earlier as well so I am STILL looking forward to reversing that damage and containing my habit. Do you have any advises?
How did your skin fare in August? What were the products you loved and hated?

My Skin Diary – July 2013

Swati · August 6, 2013 · Leave a Comment

So, one of the reader’s suggested me to do this regular feature as well when she ended up reading my hair diaries! I have been thinking of it since long but since I do not really stick to one product, I was hesitant to do this series. Also, my skin problems are comparatively minor. But, then I thought I would give it a go so here it is.

Let me share what all products I used on my face and body for the month. I do not exactly follow the same routine everyday! For example, I do not moisturize my skin in the day time everyday. I simply go to applying base and the sunscreen. NOT A GOOD HABIT AT ALL.
Similarly, I do skip moisturizing the body and not every night do I use that DIY facial oil or for that matter even the aloevera gel. I am quite lazy and I really hate using all the products but providing reviews for them and finishing them up are the swords hanging on my head!

Face

Day Routine
  • Face wash – Nivea Visage Refreshing Face Wash + Garnier Pure Active + Nivea Total Face Cleanup + Sai Sampada Face Wash + Sai Sampada Body Wash
  • Moisturizer – Rustic Art aloevera gel
  • Base before Sunscreen – Garnier Eye Roll On
  • Sunscreen – MVO Face Moisturizing Screen + MVO Everyday Sheer Coverage + Nivea Sun fluid
  • Foundation / Makeup – Ponds BB Cream
  • Kajal – Maybelline Colossal
  • Lip Balm – Maybelline
Night Routine
  • Cleansing Milk – VLCC + Garnier
  • Face wash – Nivea Visage Refreshing Face Wash + Garnier Pure Active + Nivea Total Face Cleanup
  • Toner – Liz Earle + Kama Ayurveda Vetiver Water
  • Moisturizer – Rustic Art aloevera gel
  • Facial Oil – Turmeric infused Almond Oil (DIY)
  • Face mask – Shahnaz Hussain Chocolate Mask
While I am using Nivea Total Face cleanup, the Shahnaz Hussain face mask is used once in like two weeks or something! Please note that ‘+’ means either.

Body
Day Routine
  • Moisturizer – Vaseline Aloefresh
  • Sunscreen (arms) – Neutrogena
  • Lotion – Vaseline Healthy White
Night Routine

  • Moisturizer – Vaseline Aloefresh

Current Skin
As I mentioned a few days earlier, my skin picking habit has left my neck tortured, I am looking forward to reversing that damage. And, also, my arms are pretty tanned so those are two things on top of my list right now.

Why don’t you tell me what products you used and how is your skin doing?
