My Hair Diary – May 2015

My hair after cysteine treatment
Do you like it? I do like that it is soft and shiny.

We watched Dil Dhadakne Do yesterday night finally! And, I am absolutely in love with Priyanka Chopra. I had forgotten how amazing she can be on screen and she did do justice to her role. And, the chemistry between her and Ranveer Singh was just amazing! I wish I had a brother πŸ˜€ And, the extremely simple conversations and quirky dialogs made my day. And, the expressions are just to die for πŸ˜€ Btw, watch out for the dog πŸ™‚

On the other hand, Tanu weds Manu 2 was great as well but not this good!

Cysteine Treatment

And, let me start with my hair. As I mentioned last week, I got the Cysteine treatment done from Lakme. Well, the story was this – I wanted to get my colored at all costs and I went to the salon for it. And, then, the stylist says no because my hair is too frizzy and rough and the color would not stay. And, then, he recommended me to get the cysteine treatment which is apparently completely organic and is healthy for hair. So, I just said yes to it without thinking much and let me say that I did not know anything about it then. And, btw, let me say that it is extremely expensive.

Well, basically, when I read about the treatment after coming back from the salon, I found that is an alternative protein treatment which is more of hair smoothing treatment than straightening one. And, I am happy to say that my hair is not straight because I would look horrible in it. It has become naturally wavy and healthy but that is to be yet seen!!

Cysteine is a hair protein which is a component of keratin. And, this treatment is quite popular right now because it is more gentler on hair and does not make hair poker straight. I felt it is more of a hair smoothing treatment. The results are supposed to last for 6 months and more if hair is taken care of properly.

My Hair Diary hair care tips

Huh…yes, I know I disappeared again! Sometime back in one of the post, I had mentioned about how this was a birthday week for us. In fact, the problem is that both our birthdays (mine and Mr. P’s) fall just 10 days apart. And, then, the whole year is dry which is very disheartening. Anyways, my parents had also come down for my birthday so things had become very hectic.
In fact, on a personal note, this birthday was probably my best birthday. I have never ever felt so pampered as I felt on this one. There were just endless gifts and surprises. And, that has sure made me so greedy! I was just left wanting more. So, I desperately need to bring back the zen into my life.
Content is the key to great blog and Contentment is the key to great life!

What I did?

On the hair front, the year did start on a positive note. I did try taking care of my hair pretty well so hot oil treatments and after-wash scalp care were on top of my list. Other than that, there was not much I did.

  • Hot Oil Treatment – I love the cotton ball method and definitely recommend you to try it. It has been a long time I have used essential oils in it, though. So, guess, its time to start it again.
  • After-wash Scalp Treatment – Healthy scalp is the key to healthy hair. And, lately, my scalp has become prone to a lot of itchiness. So, I love to apply scalp treatments which are cooling and soothing for the hair after washing it. And, finally, seal the hair with a leave-in treatment.
  • Hair Massage – Did you ever feel that how so ever many massage sessions you might take at home, a good one at a salon is always much more relaxing and peaceful for the body? I had one massage session and loved it to the core but it just did not last long enough!

Products Used

Not much on hair care department and even the products I used were not very much different. Check out what I used?

  • Hair Oil – The Body Shop Rainforest Coconut Hair Oil+ Dabur Olive Oil + Castor Oil
    • Shampoo & Conditioner – Organic Surge + #HappyHairChallenge product range
    • Scalp Treatment – Keo Karpin Hair Vitalizer (review coming soon)
    • Leave-in – Argan Dew Miraculous Argan Oil (review coming soon)

    Plans for this Month

    • Hair Cut – I have to get rid of the splits immediately so this one is on the top of the list. And, my hair ends length have become very uneven.
    • Hair Spa – A good hair spa session is something which I have been planning since quite long! So, hopefully it should be on the cards this month.

So, this is my hair diary for this month. Can you believe we are already in the second month. It is only 11 more months to the next year!

What do you say? How did you take care of your hair this month? Have you done anything new like coloring the hair or getting a different hair cut? Do share in the comments below!

My Hair Diary – September 2014

    Swati · October 1, 2014 · 2 Comments

Huh…I miss doing these series the most and guess what, there are only 12 of these posts in a year! And, this is the 10th month of the year and next month would be my first wedding anniversary. Gosh, how time flies! Soon, I will be the old bride πŸ™
Anyways, this year has been really tough on my hair. If you actually notice there are only four hair diaries this year – January, February, June and now this one! So, let me just list down what I did which is not really much!
    • Hair Cut – Totally cut off the entire length to get rid of the splits and straw-like ends. Mr. Hubs was a little peeved with it, though! But, I think the new length suits me differently. Will post the snaps soon enough πŸ™‚
    • Oiling – Have been more or less diligent about it. And, mixing castor oil in the regular oil as well.
    • Massaging – Recently, I have been feeling a lot of pain in my hair roots. So, a light massage really helps calm down the scalp. And, regular massage helps the hair to grow.
So, that is it! Not really much but it is a start πŸ™‚ Now check out the products I used:
    • Hair Oil – Kamini Oil + Dabur Olive Oil + Castor Oil
    • Shampoo – Omved Shampoo (review coming soon)
    • Conditioner – Omved Conditioner (but only 2-3 times, review coming soon)
    • Scalp Treatment – Aloevera Gel
    • Leave-in – Morrocan Hair Treatment (review coming soon)

What all did you do for your hair this month?

My Hair Diary – June 2014

    Swati · July 9, 2014 · 2 Comments

Good Morning folks or should I say afternoon. As I ranted yesterday about the bad condition of my hair, let me say I have to restart my hair caring routines πŸ™ The volume is gone, strands are full of splits and hair is peachy and strawy in texture. But, off late, I have inculcated a few good things in my routine so let us have a look at them.

    • Oiling – I hate this step!! Of course, I love to oil my hair but damn the timing. I prefer to wash my hair at night and sometimes it gets so late for me to get back from office that sometimes I do not get time to do this. And, then, hot oil massage happens probably once a month so I really miss this step. I do try to keep it up but mostly I miss it.
    • Cuts and Trims – Last hair cut was in April and that too not a good one and I need to go for it again soon enough.
    • Massage – I have developed this habit of massaging my hair while I am idle. This happens especially in the office (the environment is pretty relaxed!!) when I am thinking of something or watching House of Cards or The Originals!
    • Rubbing the nails together – Do you think this helps? Well, no scientific proof but people think so let me also give it a try.
    • Scalp Serum – Coming to the more practical aspects, I got this Keo Karpin scalp vitaliser. I try to apply it once a week or in two weeks, though it says it should be done everyday. And, then, I stopped using it right away so its lying in the shelf.
    • Leave-in – I shifted to rosehip from grapeseed for leave-in. I have no idea how it is working but lets see!!
    • Cocoa Butter Hair Mask – So, I had a lot of cocoa butter from a long time and I have been just wishing to put it to good use. And, finally I have a chance to do it. So, let me see when I will try it!!
And, I think Organic Surge has pulled out of India (not really sure but shampoos are not available online on couple of websites) so guess I shall have to find a new shampoo πŸ™ Also, it has been ages since I have used a conditioner.
    Products Used

My Hair Diary – February 2014

    Swati · March 3, 2014 · 9 Comments

Finally, I have started taking back my life in control!! This month has been really good on my hair and the hair growth regime is back with a bang πŸ˜€ So, check out what happened.

    The good news first.
    – One, I got a haircut so most splits gone πŸ™‚
    – Second, I have been pretty regular at oiling so my hair is back to its old silky self
    – Third, less hair fall
    – Fourth, dandruff and lice gone πŸ™‚
    – Fifth, tried a new cocktail of oil!! Oh yes, I have new oils to talk about.
    – Sixth, I got the wooden comb finally! Oh, I forgot to tell you all that my TBS comb broke sometime back in December or January and I was not able to find it for one month in any of the outlets. Finally, got it in Del. And, my hair is happy again πŸ™‚
Now, coming to the bad part! My scalp still itches and hair fall is not entirely gone. Mum said that hair itches even during hair fall so I am guessing that might be it. And, I did not really get any time for hair spa which I had determined to get at least once in three weeks.
Anyways, I have to mention a few points this time.
    – Wooden comb is really better than plastic when it comes to frizzy hair! I do not know if it is more efficient in distributing the oils, though.
    – My hair gets itchy on the second day of the wash so it can also be due to any sweat or dirt which gets accumulated on the scalp and hair fall is a direct result of it.
    – My MIL also loved the Kamini shampoo! I got 3 bottles for her this time. I mean the shampoo is really awesome even though I do not know the ingredient list.
    – The Love Long Hair Range is performing well on my hair and I am guessing if it is Pantene only. My dad also suspected the same!
    – Since I got finished with the grapeseed oil, I got rosehip this time to use as a leave-in though I have not yet started trying it!
    Products Used

    • Shampoo – Madara Shampoo + Love Long Hair Range
    • Conditioner – Love Long Hair Range
    • Hair Oil – Cocktail (which I will talk about soon)
So, how was the month for your hair? Is it over the winter blues?

My Hair Diary – January 2014

    Swati · February 4, 2014 · 4 Comments

Huh….I have been too busy to take care of my skin or my hair!! Ok, that is not entirely correct and no one is really so busy that they do not have time to do something they really want. If you want to do something, you will always find a way for it.

Anyways, coming to the point, I found that the hair diary series has been ignored since October. I do not think I did anything specific for the hair during the past three months. When I was in home, I used my mom’s oil and the kamini shampoo. When in Hyderabad, I simply neglected my hair. When in Vizag, I got one hair spa done just before the wedding and used to use some oil which was made by one of my cousin which was also pretty good. Have to ask the recipe!!
After the wedding started my hair woes. I caught lice from my niece πŸ™ Poor girl is suffering from a major case of lice and apparently nothing is working out. I did not stay long enough to actually know her case or propose any solution to her.

Later I got dandruff as well coz of extremely dry hair. I have not used conditioner since December and have oiled my hair like 2-3 times in the entire month before leaving for Delhi. So, you can imagine the hair to be just like jhadooo (a broomstick). My entire December I spent my hair scratching. And, O started facing a major case of hair fall.
Once I came to Delhi, my mom took care of the lice issue and my hair felt a little better with regular oiling. Since then I have made the resolution to take better care of the hair. So, in my case, regular oiling has definitely shown a marked improvement in dryness of the hair, the dandruff and also the hair fall. I think the hair fall was due to dandruff.

My Hair Diary – September 2013

    Swati · October 7, 2013 · 1 Comment

So, this month also I did not really concentrate on my hair. I got a hair cut in August and now I am just trying to prevent the split ends. I did not even oil my hair religiously. Its more of a washing your hair routine after coming from the office.

I hate sleeping with oil on my hair coz it stains the pillows and everything badly. And, most of the time, I wash my hair on the weekdays so there was no time for pampering. Also, I tried to use a shampoo which was totally not suiting me. Its not worth talking about so lets skip it but it did give me hair fall while I used it.
So, once I stopped using it, my hair was back to normal. So, if you are looking to change your shampoo be very very sure. Also, I have ordered Organic Surge shampoo back again as it had suited me so well. And, I am loving the conditioner as well. I can suggest it but I am not gonna review it anytime soon.
Yes, one treatment which I gave my hair in this last month was regularly using aloevera gel on the scalp and the body of the hair instead of using any oil. Why? Well, one is for a change and second, I think the oil was weighing my hair down the next day.
But, I would absolutely suggest this aloevera gel treatment. It gives such a beautiful definition to your curls and following with a drop of oil leaves your hair bouncy and next day the hair does not even end up weighed down. And, the hair is sooooooooo soft to touch.
    What products I used?
    • Shampoo – Kamini Shampoo
    • Conditioner – Kamini Conditioner + Organic Surge Color Protect Conditioner
    • Hair Oil – Vaadi Herbals Amla Oil
    • Hair Treatment and Styling – Aloevera Gel
So, how is your hair doing now?
