The Body Shop Hemp Range – Lip protector, Hand Cream and Foot Protector

The Body Shop Hemp Range - Lip protector, Hand Cream and Foot Protector

The body shop hemp range is one of my favorites from the brand apart from their spa of the world range. I have not yet given the hemp body butter a try but may be its time and season for it now! So, let me get on with how I like the hemp lip protector, hand cream and foot protector. My favorite of them all is the hemp foot protector which is amazing.

The Body Shop Hemp Lip Protector

Price : Rs 400 approx.

This is your usual chap stick. I felt this one a little sticky and does not go smoothly on the lips and I felt I needed several swipes before my lips felt moisturized. A better way to use this is if you apply a layer of vaseline and finish with a layer of the body shop hemp lip protector for longer protection.

It stays for almost two hours and you have to reapply after eating or drinking anything. It lasted almost four months of regular use which is pretty decent. Overall, I can skip this in the future.

Continuing the interview from yesterday, we will talk about the correct way of applying skin care products, how to get rid of blackheads and how our nutritional deficiencies manifest on skin.

Use retin-A cream to avoid blackheads!

Me : So, when we have so many products like a facial oil or serum and moisturizer and sunscreen, is there a correct way of applying them? Should face oil go first and then moisturizer or should sunscreen be the first product on your skin?

Her : No, it is always facial oil or serum then a moisturizer and finally the sunscreen. The only thing which goes on sunscreen is the makeup.

Me : So, when we apply so many products, do not they clog our skin, especially causing blackheads. What is the best way to get rid of blackheads? I think they are most annoying of skin problems.

Her : The blackheads happen because of the oil getting clogged in the open pores. The ideal thing to use is a salicylic acid cleanser on those areas where you have blackheads every day. The only way to get rid of the existing ones is to get a blackhead cleansing or extraction done.

In the long run to avoid formation of blackheads, applying retinoids or retin-A cream on the nose, corners of the nose and upper cheek area where you usually get the blackheads unclogs the pores and reduces the pore size as well making them less prominent.

My Skin Diary – November 2015

Hey All!! How have you been? How was Diwali? I know a whole lot of time has gone since we last talked. So, how are you doing? There has been just so much I have to share with you all. So, last two years have been pretty bad for the blog so I apologize for that and I hope it really does not continue. But, then, I do realize I am past all hope and you have for sure given up on me.

Highlights of the Post

  • October Skin Diary
  • November Skin Diary
  • December Skin Diary
  • Why Cleansing is Important?
  • A Trick to Moisturise well in Winters
  • Why You should alternate Skin Care products?
  • How to get rid of Neck Lines?
  • Why Skin looks dark in Winters?

Anyways, my October and November were pretty cool in the skin care department. I have made a huge haul again. Okay, not as huge as Malaysia one but huge still!! I can literally term myself a spendthrift now for the amount of money I have spent this year. And, that reminds me that we are only a month away from 2016. Whoohooo!!

I shall be 30 this year. Bohooo! I do not really know how to feel but it does overwhelm me. I feel that I am getting older but then the next moment I love the liberation which this age brings. Now, I understand why every actress above 30 says this is the best age to be. Teens are confusing, 20’s are insecure, 25+ one is just trying to adjust with growing up. 30’s is when the real life really begins. And, you actually have the guts to laugh on your older self, condemn your actions, realize your mistakes and actually use some brains to avoid more!! Hehe…okay, enough already πŸ™‚

Talking about my skin, I had started sharing my skin care routine again in September. And, then, October was a crazy month. The whole thing went off in anticipation of the wedding of the year in the family and life and mails did bring in a few surprises. Oh yes, I also got a chance to interview one of the leading dermatologists in the country but that was in November. And, I have sooooo many tips to share with you all. So, let me start with October.

Used Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum and the eye cream in October and it was just awesome. Pretty decent serum for all kinds of skin types.

How was October for my skin?

The last two months my skin has been acting up weirdly! In the month of October, it broke out pretty much on the chin area and that had been really difficult to control. I thought it was because I was applying Sheisido sunscreen which probably got a little extra for my skin but now I am not so sure.

Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow Cherry Lipbalm Product Review

Swati · December 23, 2015 · 2 Comments

Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow Cherry Lipbalm Product Review

Very recently, I developed a fetish for red lips. I so badly wanted to carry the boldest red available in the market and I did swipe the Mac Ruby Woo. Probably there is just too much blue which made me look more like a harlot than a girl who could carry the red. And, unfortunately, it did not survive my lunch which made me get over the fetish as soon as I jumped on it.

And, then, suddenly, I got this gem of a lip balm which fulfilled my urge for painted lips. That was Electro Pop from the Baby Lips range which gives a lovely pink shade. And, a few days later, Maybelline came up with the Candy Wow range. These lip balms come in a crayon format and their tubes are bright candy colored tubes which look pretty attractive.

How to protect your Skin and Hair during Holi?

Swati · March 5, 2015 · 8 Comments

holi, protect your skin and hair, indian festival, organic colors,

Wow! We are already celebrating holi in 2019. How fast does time move? Now a days, organic colors have become a little more common and everyone is concerned about putting unnecessary chemicals on their skin. Kudos to us! But, we are not yet rid of the chemically synthesized colors completely yet. So, you have to take precautions so that the color does not touch your skin and does not affect it.

How to protect your Skin and Hair in Holi?

Getting ready to play

Wear a high factor water proof sunscreen on every part of your body which is exposed. Apply it in a thicker layer than usual. Wear white clothes so as to deflect sun rays. Do not forget your forearms, hands, feet and back of the ears while applying sunscreen.

If possible, follow up with a light layer of body oil, preferably almond or coconut oil, over the top of sunscreen. They make a film on your skin and protect direct contact from colors. Sesame Oil also provides an added sun protection as it is a natural sun blocker. Protect your lips, nails and cuticles as well.

A leave-in conditioner or a serum will protect your hair from absorbing any colors.

Observe these precautions while playing with colors

Protect your eyes with sun glasses. It would be advised not to wear contacts as they may come out when playing with water or if someone accidentally pokes you in the eyes. Glasses are better. If any color enters your eyes, wash them with cold water repeatedly.

Go for organic or homemade colors instead of the synthetic ones. They are also good for the environment.

Playing environment conscious holi is a way to save water. Play with dry colors and encourage everyone to do the same.

How to wash off after playing with colors?

If you have put on sunscreen or makeup, use a cleansing milk or cleansing balm. Most of your color should come off right then. Clean your lips as well.

Brush your teeth once just in case you accidentally got color there. It does happen!

Wash off the dry color with cool or room temperature water. Do not use hot or lukewarm water as it takes more time to wash off.

Use a gentle soap and do not be harsh on your skin. Try to remove as much color as possible but do not scrub your skin too harshly. In case the color is not getting off, let it be.

Wash off your hair with a clarifying shampoo to remove buildup. Condition it with a hair mask for 10-20 minutes, preferably.

If color has gone into your nails beds, clip your nails or use lemon wedges to clean your nails.

So, follow these tips and I am sure you will have a wonderful Holi. Wish you all a very Happy Holi. Feliz Holi, todos!

Till then, ciao.

Maybelline Lip Balms Mango Pie and Berry Crush Lip Balms Product Review
Baby Lips have been getting rave reviews since they were launched. And, who am I not to love them? So, let me start with Mango Pie. It keeps my lips moisturized for quite a decent time and also protects from sun. And, I absolutely love the berry crush. It gives my lips a very subtle tint and moisturizes equally well.

Pros
moisturizes really well
lasts for a decent time of 2-3 hours at the least
Berry Crush gives a very subtle and nice tint
protects from sun
Cons
has to be reapplied after eating or drinking

Nivea Repair & Beauty Lip Balm {Product Review}

Swati · January 13, 2013 · 10 Comments

Price: Rs 149 for 4.8gms
Pros
keeps the lips moisturized and soft!
stays for around 2-3 hours and even after drinking water!!
Cons
leaves a white cast on pigmented lips!!
no prominent tint or anything such!
no spf πŸ™

My Experience

The product is a mauve pink in color with a white layer in the middle. It has innovative dual core technology (sounds so geeky!) with the white layer in the middle helping with nourishment of the lips and the pink coat all around giving the subtle pink tint.

this is my new cammy pic…so much better na!!

Now, the product has one major issue. If your lips are pigmented, you would find the white core leaving white a white cast which makes your lips look like a dead vampire (redundant but you get the idea!). But, if you apply in a thin layer then you can find a subtle rose tint which probably might appear more on the pinkish lips!!
The best part of the product is the decent amount of moisturization it provides. Unlike other Nivea lip balms, this one stays on even after drinking and eating though not in much quantity but the lips certainly don’t feel dry.

click on the pic to enlarge it and read the text!
In fact, a single swipe of the balm doesn’t leave any white cast and keeps the lips hydrated for enough time. You definitely need to reapply it after 3 hours or so. This is a good one to watch out! I wish there was sun protection as well. But, my fav still is Nivea Essential Care πŸ™‚
PS: Product sent by brand.
