It is neither summers nor monsoons yet. The weather is in a transition which is not only playing havoc on our healths but also hair and skin. Hair fall and Dandruff are most common problems in the season, not to mention the flyaways thanks to the humidity. Let us check out a few at home remedies to make hair pack for hair fall.

Onion for Hair

One of the smelliest but effective remedies to combat hair fall and Dandruff is to use freshly squeezed onion juice for hair. Mix it in oil or dab it on scalp with cotton, it is effective either way. Leave it on for 30 minutes and shampoo. Effective from the first application, you can continue this remedy for the entire season for longer results. Conditioning is one of the primary requirements in this season. The scalp gets dirty due to the accumulated sweat and using hair friendly masks made out of simple ingredients not only help to clean the scalp but also keep the hair in a nourished condition.

3 Hair Masks for Summers

Hair is one of the most difficult parts of the body to care for! It is the last to receive its share of nutrients, first to show lack of internal nourishment, external care lasts for a day or two at max and gets affected by plethora of factors like pollution, dry skin, sun exposure and what not.

So, how do you care for your hair? One of the simpler solutions is creating hair packs at home and nourishing hair with it. Our kitchen is well-equipped with a lot of nourishing ingredients for hair. So, let us have a look at the best performing hair pack for hair growth and hair fall.

Eggs

This is my favorite. Stinks a lot but is equally effective. Recently, I came to know that egg yolk is the offensive part of the recipe. And, you must avoid protein hair masks in case you hair is not overly damaged.

Unless your hair is extremely damaged or undergoes regular chemical or heat processing, you can only rely on egg white hair pack for for the same results which is extremely soft and shiny hair.

My Hair Diary January 2017

defabulous reviver shampoo conditioner duo

Finally, I am doing the hair diary series. It has been exactly a year since I have done the last one! And, my hair has undergone a lot in this phase. It went from good to bad to worse to better to doing well now. Regular care and maintenance is so important for hair that a day’s slip up can mess its texture. So, lets see what hair lessons I learned.

Using Good Products

After I switched from deFab to Kerastase, my hair went for a toss. The shampoo-conditioner duo were so horrible for my hair. Price is not quality necessarily so next time you would like to try out a shampoo, get a trial sachet or sample first. I am afraid of switching to anything else now!

And, do using the same hair products really cause buildup if we use clarifying shampoos once in a while? Things to ponder upon.

Importance of Hair Oil

Okay, nothing can really help your hair as well as the shampoo-conditioner. But, if you are using the right shampoo and conditioner and handling your hair gently, a good hair oil will go a long way in keeping your hair in great condition.

Well, basically, if we see oiling really helps only the scalp and not the hair length. But, we are so used to the ritual of oiling the hair heavily that it is more of a spa session that anything else. Not sure how much it really helps hair but as long as it is relaxing, who cares? I would say go for it as much as possible.

Hair Cuts and Spas

I feel like getting my hair shaved off in quest of great hair growth sometimes! Well, hair cut is very important so make an appointment once every three months and commit to that routine. Save if you have to but going for hair cut and spa is not an indulgence but necessity in this lifestyle where we hardly eat properly neither save our hair from external pollutants and agents like sun and wind.

Scalp Treatment

I used to this earlier but in between I had simply stopped taking care of my hair and scalp. So, I decided this is the first thing I should incorporate in my routine. I simply roll on the headache rollon on my entire scalp. It is easy and takes very less time. The rollon has rosemary which is great for relieving stress and helping hair growth. Seems like it has been discontinued now as I can not find it on their website. Sad!! I also use Blue Nectar migraine oil sometimes which works equally well.

Vinegar for Product Buildup

This is probably the most important step in hair care. Once a month at least, everyone should do a clarifying hair cleanse whether you use hair products or not.It just helps to revitalize the hair and remove even the oil buildup if it has been caused. Just a table spoon of vinegar with shampoo and you are great to go. Avoid baking soda as it is drying and grainy in texture so tends to stick to the scalp. And, a final rinse with honey mixed water makes the day!

So, this was my hair story for the last month. Hopefully, it would be better in  the next few months. For this next hair cut, I am thinking of trying out the Warren Tricomi salon. Any recommendations? Have you been to the salon? Apparently it is one of the luxury salons so I am hoping it would be a good experience. Fingers crossed!

Blue Nectar Briganantadi Hair Repair & Treatment Oil Product Review

I have to first say my heartiest thanks to the brand and the PR people for bearing with me for so long for blue nectar briganantadi review. It has almost been six months since I received their products for review but could not review the hair oil due to the extreme hair fall I had been facing for the past few months.

The other product I reviewed was their headache relief roll on which is amazing. And, I have all good things to say about this product as well. Before starting, I would confess that the delay in reviewing blue nectar briganantadi was due to my bad health and weakness. My hair was in a very very bad shape couple of months back and it has been getting back to normal only since December. So, now, I can review hair products again.

How else can you use a Bath Oil?

Swati · December 16, 2016 · 7 Comments

The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil, The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Shower Creme

I love using a bath oil though these days I am more interested in body lotions and butters since winter needs extra care. Also, I have noticed that oil gets a little greasy on the skin and leaves a dirty layer behind which I do not like. So, I shifted to body butter. I am also planning an interesting DIY. Lets see if it comes through.

Did You Know?
A very good idea to moisturize your skin. Apply oil immediately after the shower and rub the towel lightly. And, follow with a body lotion or body butter to seal in the moisture and oil both. Takes about 5-10 minutes extra in your routine.
Bath Oil Tip No. 1 – Aromatic Baths
I love to tip the bath oils into my bath water. I do not have a tub at home and honestly think it to be a huge waste of water and a pain to clean but you can add 5-10 table spoons of oil and enjoy the soak. On the other hand, if you use bucket, add 2 table spoons of oil and enjoy the bath.

Protein for Hair : Why You Need It and When You Do Not?

Nayantara Karnik · December 7, 2016 · 11 Comments

cysteine infusion reviews and hair color, colored hair, protein for hair,

Most of us know the importance of deep conditioning and moisture for our hair. We oil our hair on a regular basis and try to take good care of it, yet sometimes no matter what we do, it continues to be problematic. Assuming that you have no medical or health problems, your diet is reasonably good, you exercise regularly and try to stay healthy, it can be puzzling as to why these problems persist. In that case I’m here to tell you it could be because of a not-very-well-understood hair ingredient – protein for hair. Is your hair getting too much of it or not enough?

Who Needs Protein for Hair?

Our hair is made up of about 91% protein, including keratin which we often see in the hair product ingredients. It is also one of the major hair straightening treatments.

Now, what are proteins? Going back to school chemistry, proteins are larger molecules composed of chains of smaller amino acids.

In the modern world, our hair is exposed to styling, treatment and environmental damage or other stress which cause the hair structure to degrade beyond what our ancestors ever faced. Even though getting protein for hair from inside-out is the key and it should be sufficiently present in your diet, that may not be enough for your hair to remain in a healthy state.

Alternative way to applying egg on your hair

Swati · December 1, 2016 · 12 Comments

Updated on 1st December, 2016

This a very old post which I am republishing due to a comment I received. The title of the post seems to be misleading and gives away that the post talks about another type of protein which can be applied on hair. Unfortunately, this post only talks about an alternative way of using egg for hair care. I am extremely sorry for the confusion created.

egg for hair growth, protein for hair,

Today, I would be talking about the goodness of egg for our hair. Well, we have all grown up listening to the fact that egg is extremely rich in proteins and should be made a part of our daily diet. And, we also know that egg is extremely good for our hair too. Egg turns our hair into silk. It makes hair smooth, soft and shiny. Regular application of egg makes hair healthy. But, there is a big downside to applying egg and that is its SMELL. Yes, many people dislike the smell of egg and hence, do not prefer to apply it. There is an alternative to get rid of the smell and get the goodness of egg. An Egg Shampoo.

Method of Application: You can turn your regular shampoo into an egg shampoo by just adding an egg to it.  Take a little shampoo in a separate bowl and add a whole egg. Mix the mixture properly. And, while you apply the shampoo, wait for 10-15 minutes before washing off.

Your bathroom would stink with the smell of egg but not your hair. And, you do not even need to apply a conditioner as egg takes care of your hair better than a conditioner does. And, you can carry out your last rinse with tea or lemon juice. Both give shine to your hair and ensures no smell of egg remains on your hair as your hair dries off.
