5 Skin Care Tricks I have Adopted Over the Years

I love using skin care but I am not the 10-step skin care routine person. I prefer to keep my things simple and uncomplicated though with recent posts you would not feel so. Lately, I have slipped into the habit of layering my skin care in which I end up using around 5 products easily but I am finding it too cumbersome. Then, I decided to stick to my basic skin care tricks which will keep my skin and me both happy.

You should ideally have a toner / face mist, serum, facial oil, moisturizer, body oil / body lotion and sunscreen in your skin care stash. You do not have to use everything at one go but these are the basic things you need to start with and then you can add just one more thing – an antioxidant serum which goes on before sunscreen to boost its efficacy. This is specifically helpful for working people and new mommies who hardly have time for themselves.

5 Skin Care Tricks I have Adopted

Using body oil in shower

When you are slick wet from shower, slather on a body oil. It is the fastest and best way to keep your skin supple and hydrated all day long. You could follow up with a moisturizer or body butter on areas which need something extra. If not body oil, choose a body butter which spreads easily when wet. Do not use lotion as it will be too thin and will get washed off with the water.

How else can you use a Bath Oil?

The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil, The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Shower Creme

I love using a bath oil though these days I am more interested in body lotions and butters since winter needs extra care. Also, I have noticed that oil gets a little greasy on the skin and leaves a dirty layer behind which I do not like. So, I shifted to body butter. I am also planning an interesting DIY. Lets see if it comes through.

Did You Know?
A very good idea to moisturize your skin. Apply oil immediately after the shower and rub the towel lightly. And, follow with a body lotion or body butter to seal in the moisture and oil both. Takes about 5-10 minutes extra in your routine.
Bath Oil Tip No. 1 – Aromatic Baths
I love to tip the bath oils into my bath water. I do not have a tub at home and honestly think it to be a huge waste of water and a pain to clean but you can add 5-10 table spoons of oil and enjoy the soak. On the other hand, if you use bucket, add 2 table spoons of oil and enjoy the bath.

Swati · January 13, 2016 · 3 Comments

Forest Essentials Bengal Tuberose Body Oil Product Review

What do you do when getting bored in an airport? Check out what to eat? Window shopping? Actual shopping like I do sometimes? Or, simply take a book and read? Or, spend time in a skin care shop which is best pass time for me? On one such a trip back home, I was on the lookout for the best body oil.

And, what I do is enter the Forest Essentials to buy their absolutely amazing Mashobra Honey body oil. I love it. It smells divine and lingers on the skin for whole night and I just can not get over it. But, instead I got the Bengal Tuberose. Lets see how it is?

Forest Essentials Bengal Tuberose Body Oil Product Review (Buy it here)

How do you like the feel of a fragrant oil on your skin which does not make your skin greasy but gets absorbed right away? If your answer is yes, you should definitely try out this oil. To start with, this body oil is very light and fragrant. On an initial touch, the oil does feel oily. The fragrance of the oil is pretty strong yet light. It does not linger on skin for long and does not bother the nose either.

Kama Ayurveda Amber Ginger & Lily Bath and Body Oil Product Review

Kama Ayurveda Amber Ginger & Lily Bath and Body Oil Product Review

Hey Everyone! Well, I am back. Seems like there is a non-stop flow of activity in my family since almost March. March, May, July, August, September, October, November and then February. I have never really been this busy with family EVER! It is exhausting and add all the travelling and no wonder I am draining out!

I really have to be on top of things so that I do not abandon the blog whenever I have to disappear. Btw, it is dad’s birthday in a couple of days and I am thinking of gifting him Forest Essentials Date ad Litchi Anti-Ageing Cream. He loves skin care and yes I inherited it. And, this way, I also get to try the product and give out a review of it 😉

And, back to the review. I have always been a super huge fan of Kama products! Not doubt they are damn expensive and I have not really explored their whole range either. I have just used their Vetiver Water, Rose and Jasmine body oil and that’s it! Holy, not that less. Even I did not realize I had not used any of their other products. Though, I do have many of their essential oils.

So, this time when I went to their outlet, I was disappointed to know that their Rose and Jasmine body oil was out of circulation. I am a huge fan of the product because of its delicate rose fragrance. Since there was no other option, I got the Ginger and Lily body oil. But, I am not really disappointed either!

Kama Ayurveda Amber Ginger & Lily Bath and Body Oil Product Review

Essentials

Price : Rs 725 for 100ml (expensive!)

Availability : Kama outlets + Online Website

Packaging : Not really travel-friendly I would say. And, I have to add that I do not like the packaging either. It is a thick plastic bottle which comes with just a screw cap, it is not a flip top neither does it have a stopper on its mouth. So, you have to pour the product on your palm and regulate the quantity there by.

Texture : Oil feels a bit thick but not very thick, spreads easily. The feel of the oil does not have a lot of slip to it unless you take a lot.

Kama Ayurveda Rose Jasmine Bath & Body Oil {Product Review}

Swati · September 12, 2015 · 6 Comments

Kama Ayurveda Rose Jasmine Bath & Body Oil Product ReviewSo, this was on my last loving it list! And, I am really missing this product. It has been over for a month now and I just realized that I have not yet reviewed it. So, here I am gonna review about the product. Please bear.

Pros
gets absorbed very easily
keeps the skin nourished and moisturized for 8 hours
smells delicately of roses
Cons
very expensive
can get oily if applied in excess
packaging not friendly
bottle is brittle so beware of its handling
Now, have you ever come across any product which has jasmine but does not stink of it? Well, this is one. It smells of a garden of fresh roses instead of jasmine. I have come to hate the strong scent of jasmine. The problem with jasmine’s fragrance is its over-bearing nature which kills all the delicate smells.

Loving / Using It Vol. 3 – Kama Ayurveda Rose Jasmine Bath & Body Oil

Kama Ayurveda Rose Jasmine Bath & Body Oil

Loving / Using It : Loving It

I absolutely am loving this oil. And, fortunately it is one of the few products which has jasmine but still smells like rose. Jasmine is so over-bearing that Kama has managed to put rose as the dominating scent in the oil. And, using it is absolute luxury 🙂

Vaadi Herbals Aromatherapy Body Oil Pure Lemongrass and Lily Oil {Product Review}

Swati · August 29, 2013 · 6 Comments

Vaadi Herbals Aromatherapy Body Oil Pure Lemongrass and Lily Oil {Product Review}

I simply love body oils and this one is fast growing on me. Though I don’t like the fact that it gets finished off too soon for me, it sure smells really fresh and lemongrass-y. I love the citrus-y smell which hits the nose as soon as you open the bottle.

The fragrance is strong but not overly so which does make me a bit suspicious if it is natural or not. I have never actually smelled lemongrass essential oil, hence, my suspicions. I have had bergamot though it wasn’t this strong. But, it was equally refreshing!

Pros
gets absorbed easily
smells refreshing
moisturizes the skin well
cute packaging

Anyways coming back to the product, it comes in a cute green bottle with a stopper. You have to pierce the stopper but I, being lazy, chucked it out altogether. Don’t do that because then you don’t really know how much of the product is enough for one use.

Vaadi Herbals Aromatherapy Body Oil Pure Lemongrass and Lily Oil {Product Review}
Due to that issue, earlier I used to end up using a bit too much of the oil but then slowly I decreased to using around 5-10 drops of oil for each body part. Applied on damp skin, the product gets absorbed really easily and moisturizes the skin well.

Cons
doesn’t do anything for the tan and blemishes as it claims!
can be sticky if overused
smell might get too strong for sensitive noses

I won’t say that it made my skin glow or remove the tan or did what it claims but it is definitely worth a try. I think a 100ml would last around a month of usage. And, the price is decent for the quantity.
