The costliest skin care product may turn out to be a dud. Skin care products need not be costly for them to be effective. True but which product available today falls under inexpensive category? For example, Lakme to Olay regenerist to Forest Essentials to The Body Shop, all of them are above 1000 INR mark. I am talking about the anti-aging products I have come across so please feel free to let me know if there are products under the 500-600 INR mark.
The depreciation of rupee, increase in economic status and easy access of international brands combined with the desire for luxury has made the beauty industry expensive and quite unaffordable, if I may say so. That of course does not stop us from splurging. So, we do the next best thing which is spend wisely and make informed decisions. So, that was when I got the idea of talking to five of my favorite bloggers about their costliest skin care product and whether it was worth it or not!
So, what is my costliest skin care product to date?
Well, as far as I can recall, I think it is Estee Lauder ANR. If I had bought it in India, it would have costed me 11K but thankfully my mom got two big 100ml bottles from Russia last year at 4200 Rs. In Indian currency, I have splurged the max on Kiehl’s Vitamin C serum at Rs 5000.
What do other bloggers have to say about their costliest skin care products?
Paris from mywomenstuff.com says Zelens Power C High Potency Vitamin C Treatment. I think it was GBP100 and I loved it, unfortunately! (Editor’s note: I wish we did not love those but then it would be sad to see money going down the drain, wouldn’t it?)
Anamika from wiseshe.com says I don’t remember exactly but Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution was little expensive! I liked it well, its just that the dark spots take few weeks to visibly fade and you need to be patient with the product. It costed me around INR 5000 for 50ml. (Editor’s note: Just as I said, Kiehl’s is expensive!)
Bhumika from newlove-makeup.com says I believe Forest Essentials Kashmiri Saffron & Neem face wash, which was around 1500. It was pretty good but didn’t give any miraculous results. I don’t believe in spending more, only because it’s from a renowned brand. There are so many international brands which have better products at lesser price comparatively. Although if something is really good and is a product like no other, I am definitely willing to spend! So basically I don’t spend too much on any one item.
Archana from ibeautyspy.com says my costliest skin care product was The Skin Pantry Vanilla Hazelnut Body Butter at Rs.2000 after shipping! And boy, I don’t have words to describe this product! First of all, it came in a brown paper packaging with gourmet stuff printed on it similar to McDonalds’ and KFC meal boxes packaging. I felt like I was receiving some freshly made food stuff 😀 And then the product itself was amazing! The scent reminded me of old, quaint English bakeries where they are freshly baking vanilla muffins and croissants 😀 The body butter is super nourishing as well taking care of my extremely dry skin. This was one of my best investments. Its turned out to be not just a product, an experience altogether! (Editor’s note: Hey Archana! Sounds so yummm! I tried searching for the brand but it was a deadend. Can you share the link?)
Tine from beautyholicsanonymous.com says May Lindstrom Blue Cocoon. This was so highly rated that I had to try it out even though it cost a bomb. I thought it was okay. My skin didn’t hate it (no bad reaction) but it didn’t love it either. Lots of people love the scent. Me, not so much. One positive note about the product though; even though it’s so darn expensive, one jar can last you 2 years because you only need so very little each time. (Editor’s note: Tine is one of the oldest bloggers I have been following but she has stopped blogging since 2016. In her own words, she has run out of things to say. I just hope she finds things to talk about again!)
So, this was from all the amazing bloggers. Thank you all for taking out time to answer my questions. Next time we will talk about their skin care routines.
