When I was young, I remember my mum used to be very particular of not getting me a hair cut except from her own hands and needless to say she was not a hair stylist. I am not sure what is with old mindsets that there is something in the hands of the stylist which lends character to your hair.
What will you say about a person whose hand suited you first and later did not? Well, the same thing happened to me. The stylist I was so gaga about a few months ago is now on my hit list because of the most awful hair cut he gave me this month. Let me go in detail here.

My Hair Diary – November 2015
How is my hair doing?
So, this month was decent on my hair. I have to say that if you are chemically processing your hair but not really planning to take care of it, it is best to skip such treatments. The uncared hair grows even more frizzier and drier which is absolutely not recommended. And, can also be subjected to hair fall.
If you invest some time and energy into your hair care regimen, you can get as good hair as you would from Cysteine and then it would last for years together and not some few months!
And, as I said, I did not really take much care of my hair in fact. So, obviously, my hair did not do really well unless I did hair spa at home. But, doing hair spa (applying deep conditioner and leaving for 30 minutes after a shampoo) every time is really not feasible because of time issue and weather issue. It is not possible to sit with a wet head for that long, even in Hyderabad winters!
So, I need to find a better way to deal with this issue this time. A pre-wash conditioner or mask which does not need water and does not create mess and also does not need washed hair. There is this Banjara’s hair mask, right? Do you have any other recommendations for me? I would love to get some so go ahead and let me know in the comments below.
Washing and Conditioning
Now, I had finished with my deFabulous shampoo but I still had its conditioner left. So, I had to use the Scwarzkopf Color Freeze shampoo. But, the conditioner really does not go well with any other shampoo. So, again my hair suffered because of that. And, somehow, I felt Color Freeze was not a gentle shampoo either though my stylist disagrees but I prefer to follow my instincts. I wanted to try out the Moroccan Oil but they were out of stock when I went to the salon. Since I had deFabulous conditioner, I got shampoo of the same brand. Let me see if I feel any change in my hair this time!!
I went for the organic hair spa again since I had paid for three hair spas and two hair cuts previously and I did not avail the services yet. I am still left with one more hair spa. But, this time again I would reiterate the fact that I did not feel any difference in my hair after the spa. I am not sure if my hair is horribly damaged or it is just that the hair spa does nothing more than conditioning the hair.
And, after my hair spa, I got the most hideous hair cut of my life. I can not just wait to grow back my hair. My hair does lack volume but what he did makes my hair look greasy and untidy all the time. The bangs or whatever they are called frame my face and make me look frumpy. And, my hair is so short that I can not tie a ponytail so I can not do anything except put up my hair in a clip. I am not sure how it looks but better up than down.
How to choose your hair oil?
No once can suggest what would suit your hair. But, over the years I have noticed that authentic ayurvedic products do suit the hair best. So, try to get some of them next time you go shopping. Also, try incorporating essential oils and scalp serum in your hair care routine.
My Hair Diary – December 2015
There was nothing new this month except that I have started oiling my hair. Presently, I am using a hair oil which I had got in Chennai last year and I have to say I absolutely love it. And, I do not know if you have read my updated review on deFabulous shampoo-conditioner duo but the product is great at removing oil as well. So, if you are interested, you should definitely give it a try.
My Final Words on Cysteine and Hair Coloring
For the last 6 months, many have been asking me about whether I would recommend Cysteine. Honestly, after my honeymoon period with the chemical processing, I have seen extremely dry hair as well. And, since I was advised not to apply oil, I could not do much for my hair. Now, I can safely deliver a judgement.
Last month, I did mention that you could actually get this treatment done. But, now, I have changed my opinion. Well, hair is hard work, no doubt. But, if you invest some time and energy into your hair care regimen, you can get as good hair as you would from Cysteine and then it would last for years together and not some few months!
What products help in Hair Growth?
The first step starts with hair oil. Over the years, I have used loads and loads of oils from the drugstore products to high-end brands to ayurvedic potions to even my own DIY’s. There is no hard and fast rule as to what would suit your hair but I can definitely recommend you to try out some ayurvedic products.
I have tried Neelibrigandi from Arya Vaidya Sala, Kotakkal. And, I am currently using a hair tonic which is basically a hair oil from Tamil Nadu Medicinal Plant Farms and Herbal Medicine Corporation Ltd. which is a TN government undertaking. It is actually very nice. The original ayurvedic products are absolutely amazing and effective.
Another product which I would definitely advise you to invest in is essential oils. They really do help provided you get genuine products. Another product which helps is a scalp serum. I have used Biotique Mountain Ebony which really helps in hair growth.
And, now, what products I used?
As I said nothing much, just the regular stuff.
- Hair Oil – Herbal Hair Tonic
- Shampoo and Conditioner – deFabulous Reviver Shampoo-Conditioner Duo + Schwarzkopf Color Freeze Shampoo
- Hair Mask – Schwarzkopf Color Freeze Hair Therapy
So, this was all about my hair. Ciao and see you in the new year with new hair 🙂
